3e75c03cb2 security: Add default stack protection level
STACK_CANARIES was enabling canaries in all functions using the compiler
flag -fstack-protector-all. This became confuse with the addition of the
options STRONG and EXPLICIT.

This commit adds the missing option (default level) and disambiguous the
options mapping them close to the compiler flags.

Now we have the following options:

STACK_CANARIES            -> fstack-protector
STACK_CANARIES_STRONG     -> fstack-protector-strong
STACK_CANARIES_ALL        -> fstack-protector-all
STACK_CANARIES_EXPLICIT   -> fstack-protector-explicit

Note that from now on STACK_CANARIES_ALL is the symbol that adds canaries
for all functions.

0236f7c9aa security: Add option for explicit stack canaries
Add option to enable stack canaries only when explicitely
declared. It adds a new function attribute, __stack_protect, that
can be used to enable stack protection in a function.

82ace41da4 security: Additional option for stack canaries
Previously, when stack canaries were enabled, Zephyr applied this
protection to all functions. This commit introduces a new option that
allows stack canary protection to be applied selectively to specific
functions based on certain criteria.

746c59c82a arch: kernel: lib: toolchain: Standardize TLS keyword
Up until now, the `__thread` keyword has been used for declaring
variables as Thread local storage. However, `__thread` is a GNU
specific keyword which thus limits compatibility with other
toolchains (for instance IAR).

This PR intoduces a new macro `Z_THREAD_LOCAL` which expands to the
corresponding C11, C23 or C++11 standard keyword based on the standard
that is specified during compilation, else it uses the old `__thread`
keyword.

25cdda10e1 kernel: Unified type of stack protection canary __stack_chk_guard.
Extern declaration of __stack_chk_guard added volatile to
the type while the declaration was non-volatile. This cause
type check errors with compilers that declares the
__stack_chk_guard variable in an internal pre-include
header file (IAR).

While I think the volatile keyword is unnecessary, I decided
on keep it and add it to the declaration in
kernel/compiler_stack_protect.c

Tested with IAR ICCARM and the Zephyr SDK GCC.

d16c5b9048 kernel: canaries: Allow using TLS to store it
Add new option to use thread local storage for stack
canaries. This makes harder to find the canaries location
and value. This is made optional because there is
a performance and size penalty when using it.

bc18159676 kernel: Fix gcc-9.2 warning with _StackCheckHandler
Remove FUNC_NORETURN attribute from _StackCheckHandler to address the

71ce8ceb18 kernel: consolidate error handling code
* z_NanoFatalErrorHandler() is now moved to common kernel code
  and renamed z_fatal_error(). Arches dump arch-specific info
  before calling.
* z_SysFatalErrorHandler() is now moved to common kernel code
  and renamed k_sys_fatal_error_handler(). It is now much simpler;
  the default policy is simply to lock interrupts and halt the system.
  If an implementation of this function returns, then the currently
  running thread is aborted.
* New arch-specific APIs introduced:
  - z_arch_system_halt() simply powers off or halts the system.
* We now have a standard set of fatal exception reason codes,
  namespaced under K_ERR_*
* CONFIG_SIMPLE_FATAL_ERROR_HANDLER deleted
* LOG_PANIC() calls moved to k_sys_fatal_error_handler()

4344e27c26 all: Update reserved function names
Update reserved function names starting with one underscore, replacing
them as follows:
   '_k_' with 'z_'
   '_K_' with 'Z_'
   '_handler_' with 'z_handl_'
   '_Cstart' with 'z_cstart'
   '_Swap' with 'z_swap'

This renaming is done on both global and those static function names
in kernel/include and include/. Other static function names in kernel/
are renamed by removing the leading underscore. Other function names
not starting with any prefix listed above are renamed starting with
a 'z_' or 'Z_' prefix.

Function names starting with two or three leading underscores are not
automatcally renamed since these names will collide with the variants
with two or three leading underscores.

Various generator scripts have also been updated as well as perf,
linker and usb files. These are
   drivers/serial/uart_handlers.c
   include/linker/kobject-text.ld
   kernel/include/syscall_handler.h
   scripts/gen_kobject_list.py
   scripts/gen_syscall_header.py

01100eadb8 kernel: add stack canary to libc partition
User mode needs to be able to read this value in
compiler generated function prologues/epilogues.

Special handling in init.c for arches that use
_data_copy. This happens before _Cstart() gets
called. We need to make sure that the compiler
stack canary checks in _data_copy itself do not
fail.

56c2bc96a6 kernel: add CODE_UNREACHABLE in _StackCheckHandler
* _StackCheckHandler is FUNC_NORETURN

cdb94d6425 kernel: add k_panic() and k_oops() APIs
Unlike assertions, these APIs are active at all times. The kernel will
treat these errors in the same way as fatal CPU exceptions. Ultimately,
the policy of what to do with these errors is implemented in
_SysFatalErrorHandler.

If the archtecture supports it, a real CPU exception can be triggered
which will provide a complete register dump and PC value when the
problem occurs. This will provide more helpful information than a fake
exception stack frame (_default_esf) passed to the arch-specific exception
handling code.

e09a04f068 arm: fix exception handling
For exceptions where we are just going to abort the current thread, we
need to exit handler mode properly so that PendSV can run and perform a
context switch. For ARM architecture this means that the fatal error
handling code path can indeed return if we were 1) in handler mode and
2) only wish to abort the current thread.

Fixes a very long-standing bug where a thread that generates an
exception, and should only abort the thread, instead takes down the
entire system.

ac74d8b652 license: Replace Apache boilerplate with SPDX tag
Replace the existing Apache 2.0 boilerplate header with an SPDX tag
throughout the zephyr code tree. This patch was generated via a
script run over the master branch.

Also updated doc/porting/application.rst that had a dependency on
line numbers in a literal include.

Manually updated subsys/logging/sys_log.c that had a malformed
header in the original file. Also cleanup several cases that already
had a SPDX tag and we either got a duplicate or missed updating.
