Enables the mcux lpi2c shim driver and pin muxes on the mimxrt1020_evk
board for LPI2C1 and LPI2C4. LPI2C1 is shared between the Arduino
connector J18 and the WM8960 codec. LPI2C4 is shared between the Arduino
connector J19 and the FXOS8700CQ sensor (non-populated by default).
Updates the board documentation and yaml supported list accordingly.

mps2_an385 is enabled for networking -> default networking is SLIP ->
SLIP selects UART_PIPE -> UART_PIPE requires UART_PIPE_ON_DEV defined
-> undefined leads to error on building some samples.
Fix all of these issues.

Adds an fxos8700 device tree node to the mimxrt1050_evk. The sensor
interrupt gpios require a board modification to be used and conflict
with Ethernet and LCD signals, therefore their pinmuxes are not
configured.

Update boards yaml file with arduino_i2c supported option
We exclude disco_l475_iot1 from the x_nucleo_iks01a1 sample since there
are duplicated sensors between the disco_l475_iot1 and shield. Until
Zephyr drivers can handle multiple sensors we need to have this exclude.

This board has headers for these buses so they should be made available
without requiring special overlays.
Also take advantage of the new Nordic auto-enable for peripherals,
which eliminates the need for special configuration.

Not all boards can get the coverage reports. The report generation
needs minimum of 64KB SRAM. This patch added support for mps2_an385,
qemu_cortex_m3, qemu_x86. This is just a subset. Also the previously
supported board native_posix is included in this patch.
If a board has 64KB RAM, it can generate reports by just
adding HAS_COVERAGE_SUPPORT in Kconfig.board.

Provide a dtsi file that sets up common capabilities for all
Feather-based Particle Mesh devices. Provide additional dtsi files for
some obvious peripheral options.
Remove the xtensa esp32 image: it didn't build, and there's no
indication of how the ESP32 firmware can be updated on the Argon board.
Use particle_argon as the nRF52840 side of the board.
Add Particle Boron support.
Note that dtsi files must be replicated in each board directory until
tooling supports DTS includes from a shared area.

Moves the default TEXT_SECTION_OFFSET from the board level to the soc
level for the imx rt series. This offset is used to reserve space for
the imx boot header for external xip flash images.

By adding 'aliases' node in SoC .dtsi file it is possible to generate
DT_ defines which specify a logical name rather than relay on module
location on APB bus. E.g. DT_SILABS_GECKO_USART_40010000_LABEL becomes
DT_SILABS_GECKO_USART_USART_0_LABEL. Thus it is possible to remove
dts_fixup.h defines.

The en.high-perf_nucleo-144_mbed.jpg is an empty file.
This causes error when generating PDF documentation
as the tool cannot deal with empty image files.
So replace it with the image with same filename from
nucleo_f765zg, as the images are identical from
the online product description pages.

interface/stlink-v2-1.cfg and interface/stlink-v2.cfg are wrappers
around interface/stlink.cfg, their inclusion trigger warning which
this change addresses. Besides the warning there is nothing there
except sourcing iterface/stlink.cfg directly.

Enable by default the following hardware instances in Kconfig:
- ADC_0
- I2C_0
- SPI_1 (SPI_0 for nRF52810)
for all nRF development kit boards having the corresponding DT nodes
enabled. This way there is no need to enable these instances in
particular applications, like samples for sensors or tests for drivers.
I2C_0 and SPI_0 cannot be used simultaneously in most of nRF SoCs,
nRF52810 is the only exception so far (and in this SoC SPI_1 is not
present, hence SPI_0 is enabled for it).

Fixes board PHY initialization.
ENET_RST and ENET_INT pins are also used as USER_LED/JTAG_TDI and
INT1_COMBO/JTAG_TDO. Initialization needs to set these pins to power and
interrupt for the PHY Transciver. PHY reset works without busy waiting.
Moved pin initialization back to PRE_KERNEL_1 to fix UART bug and busy
wait not required.

Added support for SPI 1 available from the arduino connector (plus an
extra gpio). Tested against samples/sensor/bme280.
Added warnings in documentation, pinmux and dts highlighting a potential
conflict if using SPI_1 and on-board ethernet at the same time.

To enable the Hyperflash you have to physically modify the board and
this disables the QSPI. Since we plan on removing Kconfig from device
trees, its easier to treat the hyperflash as a separate board config
and thus it will get a dts to match.

typically have a UART setup for it. We had SEGGER support enabled by

update the LSM6DSL support to utilize the same compatible for either I2C
or SPI. We rename the i2c binding file to st,lsm6dsl-i2c.yaml just to

Reel Board doesn't enable BT by default like many of the nRF52
boards do. So let's make enabling BT a bit easier, by selecting
the BT_CTLR config when BT is enabled. This allows a sample
overlay to merely set:
CONFIG_BT=y
And the end result should be close to correct.

Modify board stm32_min_dev aka "blue pill" led pin assignment in dts
from PB12 to PC13.
This board has a user led connected to PC13.
Sample blinky and similar would run out-of-box without additional
circuit to readout PB12 level.

Remove the ifdef related to CONFIG_FS_FLASH_STORAGE_PARTITION. There
shouldn't be any harm in always having the partition around as we'll
just generate the defines related to and most applications will ignore
them.
Helps get one step closer to have DTS not depend on Kconfig.

Add a TICKLESS_CAPABLE kconfig variable which is used by the kernel to
select tickless mode's default automatically on drivers that support
it (rather than having to set the default per-board). Select it from
the ARM SysTick and Intel HPET drivers.
Also remove the old qemu_cortex_m3 default settings which this
replaces.

This can help find unused symbols. Those end up without a type if
'default' is used instead of 'def_bool', which generates a warning.

Turning 'def_bool' in Kconfig.defconfig files into 'default' revealed
three unused symbols (confirmed with 'git grep'). Remove them.
Search for "Kconfig.defconfig" in
https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/application/kconfig-tips.html for
an explanation of how def_bool->default can reveal undefined symbols.
Removed unused symbols:
- SPI_DW_CLOCK_GATE
- PINMUX_MPS2
- BOARD_XTENSA
Also remove an assignment to the promptless symbol ALTERA_AVALON_SYSID,
in tests/boards/altera_max10/sysid/prj.conf. Assignments to promptless
symbols have no effect.

These changes were obtained by running a script created by
Ulf Magnusson <Ulf.Magnusson@nordicsemi.no> for the following
specification:
1. Read the contents of all dts_fixup.h files in Zephyr
2. Check the left-hand side of the #define macros (i.e. the X in
#define X Y)
3. Check if that name is also the name of a Kconfig option
3.a If it is, then do nothing
3.b If it is not, then replace CONFIG_ with DT_ or add DT_ if it
has neither of these two prefixes
4. Replace the use of the changed #define in the code itself
(.c, .h, .ld)
Additionally, some tweaks had to be added to this script to catch some
of the macros used in the code in a parameterized form, e.g.:
- CONFIG_GPIO_STM32_GPIO##__SUFFIX##_BASE_ADDRESS
- CONFIG_UART_##idx##_TX_PIN
- I2C_SBCON_##_num##_BASE_ADDR
and to prevent adding DT_ prefix to the following symbols:
- FLASH_START
- FLASH_SIZE
- SRAM_START
- SRAM_SIZE
- _ROM_ADDR
- _ROM_SIZE
- _RAM_ADDR
- _RAM_SIZE
which are surprisingly also defined in some dts_fixup.h files.
Finally, some manual corrections had to be done as well:
- name##_IRQ -> DT_##name##_IRQ in uart_stm32.c

Other ST boards have their openocd.cfg support file updated,
but Nucleo L476RG was still looking for board/st_nucleo_l476rg.cfg
and fails with Zephyr SDK 0.9.5.

The wncm14a2a modem is an add-on/shield and not part of the frdm_k64f
board and should be maintained and configured outside of the board.
This needs to be moved to a shield, see #10965.

Adding watchdog driver for sam SoC. The current implemntation just
diables the watchdog on device boot.
This PR adds the following support for SAM3X, SAM4S and SAME70
1. Activate processor reset
2. Activate all reset
3. Generate interrupt on watchdog timer expiration.

Since the mb_display driver is specific to the microbit we can move
the GPIO pin defines from board.h into the driver. This lets us remove
one of the few remaining drivers that is including board.h

Move the GPIO info for the buttons into the dts, this lets us match what
all other boards are doing. Update some sample & test code to use the

The frdm_k64f and mimxrt1050_evk boards do not have native bluetooth
support, but rather require an arduino shield to supply a ble controller
over serial hci. Convert the dts to use the newly introduced frdm_kw41z
ble controller shield.

The EFR32™ Mighty Gecko Starter Kit EFR32MG-SLTB004A (a.k.a
Thunderboard Sense 2) contains a MCU from the EFR32MG12P family built
on ARM® Cortex®-M4F processor with low power capabilities.
There is an On-Board J-Link Debugger that presents a virtual COM port
for general purpose application serial data transfer with this
interface and a Mass Storage for firmware flashing.

Combines the lpcxpresso54114_m4 and lpcxpresso54114_m0 boards into one
directory containing both board configurations. This eliminates some
duplicate code and documentation, and better represents the actual
hardware.

In an effort to reduce the number of CONFIG_ defines in dts files, we
can remove CONFIG_MCUMGR_SMP_UART and just always set
'zephyr,uart-mcumgr' as there is no harm to always having this set for
those board dts files that define the property.

There were several issues in the dts binding for the ssd1673 display:
* binding file mixed description & generation up together
* Use of BASE_LABEL
* orientation-flipped should have been of type boolean
Update the binding file to reflect these changes, and made associated
changes to dts_fixup.h and driver as needed.

The Adafruit Feather nRF52 does not have any RTS/CTS signal
connections between the nRF52832 and the on-board CP2104 USB/UART
bridge. Pins 5 and 7 are regular GPIOs.

This commit is taking care of following stuff:
1. pinmux: STM32F4 micro is using I2S5_CK and I2S_SD to interface with
on-board microphone.
2. default configuration:
- enable I2S5 and configure PLLI2S properly to generate
I2SxCLK = 128MHz.
- enable DMA
Note:
As stated in issue #9028 we needed to take care of a known SPI/I2S bug
implementing the following two actions:
A. APB2 clock has been slowed down to 42MHz.
B. The SPI/I2S clock gpio speed has been set to very_high_speed.

The commit de78ecd "arm: beetle: Use device tree for IRQs" introduces
a regression related to UART1 IRQ.
On arm beetle the UART1 has IRQ number 2.
This patch restores the functionality modifying the arm beetle device
tree file.

The Zephyr configuration system uses many different files in many
different formats. It makes it a lot easier for users to understand
what these files do if when we use the correct file extensions.
To this end we rename the dts.fixup files to the correct file
extension '.h'.
This is a breaking change for out-of-tree fixup files. Such files will
be detected and given an appropriate error message.

no meaning. Fix this by changing node_name@xx to node_name_xx which
removes the guilty '@XX' syntax but preserves node_name uniqueness.

Argonkey board building has been recently broken by a LSM6DSL sensor
driver fix (see commit: a013ce3bf0).
The board configuration file must now enable HAS_DTS_GPIO_DEVICE macro
instead of HAS_DTS_SPI_DEVICE.

Enables instance 3 of the lpuart driver, adds dts fixups, and configures
pinmuxes to use bluetooth hci on the mimxrt1050_evk board. Updates board
documentation accordingly.
Tested with samples/bluetooth/peripheral_hr, with frdm_kw41z attached as
an arduino shield running the nxp hci controller application.

Add board support files for mimxrt1060_evk, the development board for
i.MXRT1062 (CM7) SoC.
- Add pinmux, dts, doc.
- External QSPI flash hasn't been configured yet. So code can be loaded
to SRAM for now.
- Tested samples: hello_world, philosophers, synchronization,
basic/blinky, and basic/button.

Cleanup unused leftover from shield development.
These flags are not actually useful, nor used as dts connectors
are sufficient to control board to shield binding is
operational and dtc provides meaningful error message
when this is not the case.

This patch changes the behavior of the sensor. The sensor
will remain in sleep mode after initialization and will only
run the measurements once when sample_fetch is called.
This optimizes the power consumption of the sensor as it
stays in sleep mode most of the time.

The ARM_MPU_IMX_RT option is just selecting ARM_MPU option,
which could be also controlled through menuconfig.
This commit removes the ARM_MPU_IMX_RT option and replaces
its usage by ARM_MPU option.

The ARM_MPU_NRF52X option is just selecting ARM_MPU option,
which could be also controlled through menuconfig.
This commit removes the ARM_MPU_NRF52X option and replaces
its usage by ARM_MPU option.

When we fixed the missing reg property in the cpu node, we forgot to
add #address-cells & #size-cells for the node.

Fix by adding unit address that is missing to flash & memory nodes.
Additionally the Silabs memory nodes didn't have a compatiable or

UART pins (TX, RX, RTS, CTS) are now configured in DTS files.
RTS and CTS definitions are optional. If flow control is enabled
and RTS/CTS pins are not defined, then compiler will issue
an error message.

This patch adds USB capabilities to the stm32f4 discovery board.
As the board has a MicroUSB port that I would like to use as stdout I
just added USB. The needed entry within pinmux.c is already there but
USB was missing in the dts file and documentation.
I tested it with the upcomming commit.

When I2C and SPI are not used (such as when building a simple
bootloader for this target), the current Kconfig is generating a fair
bit of warning spew. Clean it up by moving some explicit _defconfig
settings into defaults.

The version of OpenOCD provided by Zephyr SDK is too old and does not
contain support for EFR32FG1P chip. This patch assumes that user
compiles and installs the newest version of OpenOCD.

This config is only valid for kinetis boards. Fixes the Kconfig warning:

This patch is to add support for the WaRP7 board which has an i.MX7
Solo SoC.
The Zephyr is running on the Cortex M4 core and the following features
were validated on this board:
* GPIO: User Switch detection and sensors interrupt
* UART: Zephyr console
* I2C: Communication with fxos8700 and fxas21002 sensors

PR #8729 removed the old GPIO_NRF5 driver in favor of an
nrfx-based one. The reel_board still references the old one,
causing CI failures.

As reported in issue #9494, BT samples are using the off-chip
UART-based BT controller on 52810. But the on-chip BT controller is
supported on 52810, so this is the reasonable default when BT is
enabled.
This patch enables BT_CTLR by default when BT is enabled.
This resolves#9494.

I removed GPIO configuration from board files and enabled them
as default in driver Kconfig file. All boards had GPIO ports
enabled that is why I decided to enable it by default.
Power management example was changed to use new driver.

The old GCC ARM Embedded website on launchpad
(https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded) has been superseeded by the new
GNU Arm Embedded one
(https://developer.arm.com/open-source/gnu-toolchain/gnu-rm).
This also means a change of name from "GCC" to "GNU". Reflect this in
the enviroment variables so that the proper term is used henceforth.

A bug in the jlink application made it impossible to use OpenSDA
firmware with the mimxrt1052 device name, so we used the generic
Cortex-M7 device name as a workaround. This bug was fixed in jlink
V6.32h (2018-07-05), so now we can use the more specific device name.

These settings enable use of the WNC-M14A2A LTE-M modem as the default
network interface for the nRF52840-DK board (nrf52840_pca10056).
They include the following settings when MODEM_WNCM14A2A is selected:
- UARTE1 pin setup
- DTS / DTS fixup additions for WNC-M14A2A
- Kconfig settings for modem driver

This enables the cc3220sf_launchxl to automatically
reconnect to the last good known access point (AP).
This method avoids the need to:
- perform a wifi scan for access points on bootup (saving power);
- include hard-coded SSID/passwords in the wifi application.
- include the wifi shell in the wifi application.
- rely on more complex provisioning methods;

Addition of a Flash partition to the 'frdm_k64f.dts' file in the
currently existing 'Application Area' (Partition Location: 0x0001e000
Partition Size:0x00002000). This partitioned area can be used as a FCB
for Bluetooth and other applications.

This patch adds basic support and documentation for the STM32F723E-DISCO
board, with GPIO, USART, I2C and USB support. Two USARTs are enabled,
the VCP one for the console and the Arduino one. The GPIOs are
configured for the 3 LEDs and the button available on the board.

Adding new implementation of logging subsystem. New features
includes: support for multiple backends, improving performance
by deferring log processing to the known context, adding
timestamps and logs filtering options (compile time, runtime,
module level, instance level). Console backend added as the
example backend.

Bool symbols implicitly default to 'n'.
A 'default n' can make sense e.g. in a Kconfig.defconfig file, if you
want to override a 'default y' on the base definition of the symbol. It
isn't used like that for any of the removed properties though.

Since Nordic does not offer an nRF52810 Development Kit and instead
recommends using the nRF52 DK (nRF52832 based), add a board that
enforces the limitations of the nRF52810 but is designed to be flashed
onto the actual nRF52 DK hardware.

Currently tests/benchmark/footprint build is failing for
nrf52_pca20020 board. In minimal configuration, all modules are
disabled, including GPIO, because of that defines related to GPIO
are missing in board.c file and compilation fails.
To solve it, I selected GPIO to be always turned on for
nrf52_pca20020 board.

Both variables were used (with the same value) interchangeably
throughout CMake files and per the discussion in GH issue,
ZEPHYR_BASE is preferred.
Also add a comment with explanation of one vs. the other.

The choice symbol LSM6DSL_EXT0_LIS2MDL was given a 'default' in
Kboards/arm/96b_argonkey/Kconfig.defconfig, but 'default' has no effect
on choice symbols, triggering a warning from Kconfiglib.
Instead of adding a default to the choice symbol, change the default of
the 'choice' itself by giving it name and adding the default in
Kconfig.defconfig.
This requires that we remove the default on the "base" definition of the
'choice', due to some messiness related to the Zephyr-specific
prefer-later-defaults behavior (see the 'Zephyr-specific Kconfig
behavior for defaults' section in the Board Porting Guide). Choices were
overlooked when that patch was added to the C tools, meaning choices
still prefer earlier defaults. The crux is that Kconfig.defconfig files
are included last.

In preparation for introducing a warning.
Unquoted string defaults work through a quirk of Kconfig (undefined
symbols get their name as their string value), but look confusing. It's
done inconsistently now too.

The ST Nucleo L432KC board only has a reset switch and not user switch.
It has a single user LED connected to PB3, and called LD3 in the ST
documentation.
This patch fixes the corresponding device tree definition. At the same
time also it also fixes the documentation, where the name of the power
and user LEDs are swapped.

Previously, the cc3220sf platform could only be flashed using
TI UniFlash (or CCS) tools, requiring unique instructions.
Also, these procedures were not integrated with the standard Zephyr
build targets: 'flash', 'debug', 'debugserver'.
After installation of a TI OpenOCD v1.10 release, and other
one-time board setup, flashing and debugging can now be done
via OpenOCD/gdb, using the standard Zephyr build targets per
the Zephyr Application Development primer.

Previously, there was no easy command-line solution for loading
a Zephyr program to (internal) flash.
So, the default development method was to load via gdb/openocd
to SRAM and debug from there, thus making the cc3220sf platform
non-XIP (CONFIG_XIP=n) by default.
With new openocd v 1.10 updates from TI (git.ti.com/sdo-emu),
the image can now be flashed and debugged via gdb/openocd,
so the default will be changed to XIP (CONFIG_XIP=y).

symbols never existed. Remove the assignments to them.
Keep the dead code that's guarded by them for a while. I don't know if

Setting of CONFIG_HEAP_MEM_POOL_SIZE was done in the board defconfig
because open-amp was doing recursive builds and setting it the
defconfig made sure all builds were consistent. However, now that we
don't do recursive builds this will get properly picked by from the
sample specific conf file.

CONFIG_BOARD_STM32_NUCLEO_{L432KC,L476RG} where set in the respective
board defconfig files, however these symbols don't exist. We can just
remove them from the defconfig as we'll get the board Kconfig symbol
defined by default when selecting that board.

The kl25z does not have the same spi hardware as the k64f and therefore
cannot use the same spi driver. Remove all references to spi for the
kl25z soc and frdm_kl25z board until we have a valid spi driver.

This commit adds a sample application using OpenAMP for remote procedure
calls on the LPCXpresso54114. It is adapted from the RPMsg-Lite sample
application added in PR #5960, and uses the IPM driver to provide
interprocessor interrupts.

The current method of setting the openocd runner arguments works for
direct invocation from the command line, but the values that are
written to the CMake cache are not properly separated and are
difficult to parse, due to the fact that in several cases, option
values contain spaces.
Adjust these runner arguments so that the options and their values are
separate list items. This makes it possible to parse them accurately
from the CMake cache.
No functional changes.

This patch adds dts support to lps22hb/hts221/vl53l0x
I2C sensors as well as lsm6dsl SPI sensor.
Since some info, like gpio for irq triggering or SPI bus
characteristics, may be provided through dts, they need
to be made optional in the LSM6DSL driver by usage of
macros like HAS_DTS_SPI_PINS or HAS_DTS_SPI_DEVICE.

Adds dts bindings for the mcr20a wireless transceiver. The frdm_k64f
board supports the mcr20a via an Arduino shield, therefore the dts node
is added to the board dts. The kw2xd is a SiP and thus the mcr20a dts
node is added to the soc dts.
The networking samples using prj_frdm_k64f_mcr20a.conf have been broken
since the refactoring of the mcux gpio driver to dts in commit
4e8f29f319. The sample is now fixed.

Indexed defines were systematically generated even when there
was only one element to generate.
So we ended up generated a lot of _0 defines.
Then we needed to generate aliases to these _0 indexed defines,
in order to get useful defines.
For instance:

Adds a board-level config option to select whether the code gets linked
into internal instruction tightly coupled memory (ITCM), external
hyperflash, or external qspi flash. The default is ITCM.
Note that we are not yet building an image vector table (IVT) into the
image, therefore the zephyr binary is not bootable by the SoC ROM as-is.
However, the DAPLink firmware prepends an IVT to the image when you use
its drag-and-drop feature to program flash, and this results in a
bootable zephyr application.

Previously, when !CONFI_XIP, BOOTLOADER_SRAM_SIZE was defaulted
to 16 (K), reducing the size of SRAM available for the program.
Also, though it has no effect, the value for SRAM start in the
dtsi file was incorrect.

FS_FLASH_MAP_STORAGE keyword enables the storage partition,
but it was depend on flash_map module which is unused by
NFFS. This patch makes it independent thanks
to it is possible to enable the storage partition
without flash_map module.
FS_FLASH_MAP_STORAGE was renamed to
CONFIG_FS_FLASH_STORAGE_PARTITION
as it is independent for flash_map.

Following changes are necessary to use LP3943 LED driver present
in 96Boards Neonkey board
1. Enable I2C_3 interface
2. Reduce the speed of I2C_3 bus on 96Boards Neonkey. Due to some
design quirks, on board LP3943 LED driver connected to I2C_3
operates only at Standard speed of 100KHz.

The NFFS partition at the end of flash is also useful for any other
file system or even the Flash Circular Buffer (FCB). Rename the
partition from 'nffs_partition' to 'storage_partition' and make it
depend on a new hidden Kconfig entry which the relevant users will
select (such as NFFS and FCB).

We have been combining imported mcux drivers into a flattened directory
structure to maximize driver reuse, but the introduction of additional
nxp soc families (lpc and imx) to zephyr has introduced driver naming
conflicts. This caused us to rename and modify imported files, such as
fsl_gpio.c/h, to make them unique across all three nxp soc families.
This makes updating the the mcux drivers complicated, especially for the
lpc family.
Reoganize the mcux drivers into soc family subfolders, so we can just
copy all the drivers from an mcux distribution (which is done on an
soc-basis) into the appropriate soc family folder. Undo all of the
naming changes that occurred when lpc and imx drivers were originally
imported. Undo the accidental squashing of the kinetis watchdog and dcdc
drivers that occurred when the imx drivers were introduced.
The drawback to this approach is that we have duplicate files when the
same hw ip modules exist in multiple soc families, however there are
only few cases where this occurs, such as fsl_lpuart and fsl_trng.

The test "net/utils" fails to build on nucleo_f103rb
due to "region `SRAM' overflowed by 8 bytes.
Disabling PWM at the board level to build the test.
Moreover, according to issue #6858, we will only configure
board valuable HW and connectors on board level and the
user should enable what is needed on application level.

Underscore ('_') isn't a valid char for alias names based on the device
tree spec. Newer dtc compilers flag this as a warning so lets clean it
up. Replaced '_' with '-' to keep things simple.

The TRNG IP block in the KW41Z is really an entropy source and not
intended to be used as a general purpose random number generator
source. The block has 15 slots to read from and when the last slot
is read it has to regenerate the 15 numbers. This process takes
3-5 seconds and is blocking. The change here is to use the TRNG as
an entropy source to the XOROSHIRO pseudo random number function
and then have the KW41Z use XOROSHIRO for random number generation.

discusses the currently supported features of the board. The omissions
include the audio features and sensors which don't have a working driver

A new board configuration is added for Thingy:52, also known as
PCA20020. This includes support for some of the on-board sensors, and
other peripherals such as the on-board GPIO expander.
The board power rail sequencing is also implemented, as the rails need
to be powered up in a correct order and before certain device driver
init calls are made.

Upcoming Nordic ICs that share many of the peripherals and architecture
with the currently supported nRF5x ones are no longer part of the nRF5
family. In order to accomodate that, rename the SoC family from nrf5 to
nrf, so that it can contain all of the members of the wider Nordic
family.

Currently, it seems that only boards with smaller amount of RAM
get a value for "ram" property, and very few boards have "flash"
defined. However, to test bigger sample applications, it's helpful
to have these properties universally defined.

Move the dts.fixup back to board dir in prep for support mps2_an521.
The memory maps between the two mps2_an385 and mps2_an521 differ greatly
so its easier to just keep the fixup files with the board.

Add initial support for NUCLEO-L073RZ board.
This is a typical Nucleo-64 board, so most files are reused
from already supported Nucleo boards with small changes.

SoC dts fixups are added and the i2c_nrf5 driver is modified to use
the values generated from the device tree.
The I2C_*_DEFAULT_CFG and I2C_*_IRQ_PRI options are removed from board
defconfigs. Bitrate and IRQ priority are configured using using the
device tree instead.
HAS_DTS_I2C is selected on all nrf5 boards to prevent generation of
conflicting defines from Kconfig.

This commit changes the Arduino Zero pinmux configuration to use PA12
as MISO.
According to the schematic, the Arduino Zero provides a SPI bus on
SERCOM4 with the following pads/pins:
- MISO: PA12/pad0 (pin 21)
- MOSI: PB10/pad2 (pin 19)
- SCK: PB11/pad3 (pin 20)
The MISO signal is incorrectly labeled as PB12_S4_SPI_MISO on the
schematic. It should be labeled PA12_S4_SPI_MISO.

Nucleo-64 boards do not have X3 crystal by default, so HSE is clocked
from MCO output of ST-LINK, and CONFIG_CLOCK_STM32_HSE_BYPASS should be
enabled. STM32F0 HSE somehow magically works even without that, but
to do so is the right thing.

Since not all boards enable all devices, we typically have the SoC dtsi
file have a device marked with status = "disabled" and have the
board.dts explicitly enable with status = "ok". Update it so USB on
Atmel SAMD21 work this way.

Move IRQ numbers into device tree so we can remove soc_irq.h. We are

The legacy SPI API was turned back on for the Adafruit Feather M0
Basic Proto when the SAM0 SoC was switched to using DTS for SPI. This
commit turns it back off.

ArgonKey board is a 96boards sensor hub platform for all 96Boards
compliant family products. The ArgonKey packs a Cortex-M4 chip
together with a set of motion, environmental and ambiental sensors
and can be used as a development platform for many different
applications.

Switch the SoC device tree to define a single entry per SERCOM instead
of one per mode.
Define a Device Tree binding for the SAM0 SPI and use it instead of
Kconfig for enabling / disabaling instances
Switch the Arduino Zero, Adafruit Feather M0 Basic Proto, and
Trinket M0 to use the new defintion.
Add the APA102 LED that's on the Trinket as a test.

The space referred to in these comments was once truly reserved for
the application: no zephyr partition would ever use it.
Now, though, that's not the case, since NFFS will use these sectors
when enabled.

Configure SPI using DT for the following STM32 boards:

nucleo_f334r8
nucleo_f401re
nucleo_l432kc
nucleo_l476rg
SPI nodes in <board>.dts file are populated matching boards existing
pinmux default configuration and enabled in Kconfig.defconfig if
SPI is enabled.
For nucleo_l476rg board SPI2 and SPI3 nodes are not yet added, because
of missing pinmux defines.

Commit 247782a7b3 moved the sam0 UART
and SPI configuration into pinmux. Using these drivers without pinmux
causes the kernel to skip the pin configuration.

CONFIG_I2C_NRF5_GPIO_SDA_PIN and CONFIG_I2C_NRF5_GPIO_SCL_PIN are
replaced with port specific versions. Board defconfigs relying on the
original names are updated. The driver is also modified to pass the
configure values to registers.

The hts221 sensor driver was implicitly made dependent upon the
disco_l475_iot1 board when it was converted to dts, so build the
associated sample only for this board. This issue was encountered when
adding sensor dts support to nxp boards, which don't have hts221.

So far, DT did not support the flash driver name.
Any flash-controller should have the appropriate
flash driver that should be identified by its name.
This path adds generic support for extract the description
from the flash-controller node,
adds implementation of this property for all nrf5x targets.

In Qemu 2.10 we can run this board configuration in Qemu directly. Make
this possible by setting the board configuration to allow emulation.
Until we have the latest QEMU in the SDK this can be used with a recent
QEMU like this:
$ mkdir build; cd build
$ cmake -DQEMU=/usr/bin/qemu-system-arm -DBOARD=mps2_an385 ..
$ make run

In order to be able to document the build on Windows and UNIX
systems, slight variations are required on the app commands
that are used throughout the documentation system.
This includes getting rid of the prompt symbol and providing commands
for both UNIX and Windows operating systems.

Most boards enable the pinmux by default by setting CONFIG_PINMUX=y in
<board>_defconfig, but several boards did it in Kconfig.defconfig
instead. Several code reviews, such as #5043, have suggested using a
select in Kconfig.board to enable the pinmux, however this caused
warnings:

dependencies (BOARD_FRDM_K64F || BOARD_FRDM_KL25Z || BOARD_FRDM_KW41Z ||

Defining TRIGGER_MODE choices in board Kconfig.defconfig files
brings unwanted dependency and warning messages when using sensors
on other boards.
Change sensor configuration by enabling wanted trigger choice rather
than redefining choice.

Instead of accessing the environment variable ZEPHYR_BASE every time we
require accessing the source code root, use an intermediate variable
that has OS path separators correctly set to '/' to avoid issues on
Windows.
Note: This removes the ZEPHYR_SOURCE_DIR CMake variable. External
applications using that will need to change to use the new ZEPHYR_BASE
variable.

ETH_MCUX_0 needs to be turned on when CONFIG_NET_L2_ETHERNET is enabled.
If CONFIG_NET_L2_ETHERNET is disabled (e.g. when configured for 6loble),

Enable DT support in the dfu-util flasher when the target is a
DfuSe (DFU + ST extensions) device.
Untangling DfuSe-specific options (currently, the default is 'leave',
to immediately start running after the flashing is done) from the
actual address makes this cleaner, and sets up a subsequent patch to
let callers set DfuSe options.
It also lets us fix an unnecessary printline when flashing DfuSe
devices. There's no need to reset those, since the 'leave' modifier
starts execution immediately.

The various runners (flash/debug scripts) use environment variables to
take arguments. This is legacy behavior which is not desirable.
Use command line arguments instead.
Note: this leaves more general environment variables with publicly
documented behavior in place for now, for compatibility, e.g.:
ZEPHYR_FLASH_OVER_DFU, OPENSDA_FW, ESP_IDF_PATH, PYOCD_DAPARG
For example, when using dfu-util to flash arduino_101, instead of
setting DFUUTIL_PID, DFUUTIL_ALT, and DFUUTIL_IMG environment
variables, have the script invocation look like this:
python3 .../zephyr_flash_debug.py dfu-util flash \
[common arguments omitted] \
--pid=8087:0aba --alt=x86_app \
--img=.../build/zephyr/zephyr.bin
Make similar changes for other runners (openocd, etc.) and
targets (debug, debugserver).
To implement this in the scripts:
- have the individual scripts/support/runner/some-runner.py files
register their own command line arguments
- teach them to construct instances from arguments, not the
environment
- have zephyr_flash_debug.py request runners to register command
line argument parsers, and handle arguments
In the build system:
- add a new board_runner_args() extension function that board.cmake
files can use to add to the zephyr_flash_debug.py command line
- adjust cmake/flash/CMakeLists.txt to invoke with arguments
- add new helper include files for each runner (like
boards/common/dfu-util.board.cmake, etc.), which add default
options as needed and then add on overrides from
board_runner_args() calls
- update board.cmake files to use the new includes and extension
This implied some tweaking when using openocd to make the CMake string
escaping and unescaping work properly.

The Python-based runners have replaced the old shell scripts. Refactor
the build system accordingly:
- FLASH_SCRIPT is now BOARD_FLASH_RUNNER
- DEBUG_SCRIPT is now BOARD_DEBUG_RUNNER
The values, rather than being the names of files, are now the names of
runners in scripts/support/runner. They are still short, descriptive
names like "openocd", "jlink", "em-starterkit", etc.
Adjust the zephyr_flash_debug.py call and runner internals
accordingly. Have each runner class report a name and the commands it
can handle. This lets us move some boilerplate from each do_run()
method into the common run() routine, and enables further improvements
in future patches.
The handles_command() method is temporary, and will be replaced by a
more general mechanism for describing runner capabilities in a
subsequent patch. The initial use case for extending this is to add
device tree awareness to the runners.
To try to avoid user confusion, abort the configuration if an
xxx_SCRIPT is defined.

External serial flash on this board is 4MB.
Previously, this was confused with internal flash, which is 1MB.

olimexino_stm32 was not getting the flash base address from the Kconfig
variable. Since the board uses DTS that will get set, so we can use the
standard openocd.board.cmake.

Unlike other NXP SoCs currently in Zephyr, the mimxrt1052 has the ARM
MPU rather than the NXP MPU. Start out by enabling it with a simple set
of memory regions for "flash" (ITCM), "ram" (DTCM), and the peripheral
buses. More regions will need to be added when we implement support for
external memories.

Adds support for the NXP MIMXRT1050-EVK board, an entry-level
development board for the new mimxrt1052 Cortex-M7 SoC.
Adds pinmuxing, dts, documentation, and jlink debug support for the new
board. Note that pinmuxing uses the mcux pinmux driver directly rather
than the Zephyr pinmux interface. The mimxrt1052 SoC has complicated
pinmuxing that may require changing the Zephyr pinmux interface to
support, so for now let's use the mcux driver directly.
We are also not yet configuring the external flash, therefore a debugger
is required to load code to the internal sram. The on-board OpenSDA
circuit with jlink firmware is sufficient, and the 'make debug' build
target is supported.
Samples tested include: hello_world, philosophers, synchronization,
basic/blinky, and basic/button.

The old way of constructing FLASH_SCRIPT_ENV_VARS was corrupting the
values that were passed to the flasher. This new method is the
standard way of creating a dictionary/hashmap in CMake and does not
suffer from the same problem.

Introducing CMake is an important step in a larger effort to make
Zephyr easy to use for application developers working on different
platforms with different development environment needs.
Simplified, this change retains Kconfig as-is, and replaces all
Makefiles with CMakeLists.txt. The DSL-like Make language that KBuild
offers is replaced by a set of CMake extentions. These extentions have
either provided simple one-to-one translations of KBuild features or
introduced new concepts that replace KBuild concepts.
This is a breaking change for existing test infrastructure and build
scripts that are maintained out-of-tree. But for FW itself, no porting
should be necessary.
For users that just want to continue their work with minimal
disruption the following should suffice:
Install CMake 3.8.2+
Port any out-of-tree Makefiles to CMake.
Learn the absolute minimum about the new command line interface:
$ cd samples/hello_world
$ mkdir build && cd build
$ cmake -DBOARD=nrf52_pca10040 ..
$ cd build
$ make

This should clear up some of the confusion with random number
generators and drivers that obtain entropy from the hardware. Also,
many hardware number generators have limited bandwidth, so it's natural
for their output to be only used for seeding a random number generator.

The original developer no longer has a working board and isn't
interested in maintaining support for the board. Mark the board
deprecated for now and see if anyone wants to pick it up, otherwise will
remove it in a future release.

Added I2C bus (TWI) driver for Atmel SAM MCU family. Only

Match change we made to how I2C is enabled for other stm32 platforms:
Right now we allow for the I2C subsystem to be built without any drivers
enabled that utilize it. When we added support for the new STM32 I2C
driver we forced the I2C driver to be enabled if the I2C subsystem was
enabled. While this makes a reasonable amount of sense, it breaks
current assumptions for various testcases that we need to cleanup.

Some our Zephyr tools don't like seeing UTF-8 characters, as reported in
issue #4131) so a quick scan and replace for UTF-8 characters in .rst,
.h, and Kconfig files using "file --mime-encoding" (excluding the /ext
folders) finds these files to tweak.

Default configuration for USART1 (Console output) on board
stm32f3_disco was set on PA9/PA10, which matches Rev-A/B
configuration. Though, on more recent configuration of the
board (Rev-C onward). USART1 is mapped to PC4/PC5.
This configuration has the benefit to support VCP, hence it
is chosen to be set by default.

Enable BlueNRJ chip on disco_l475_iot1 board.
Communication with SoC, is done over SPI(3). Hence this
commit enables SPI3 on SoC and configure BT_SPI IRQ,
RESET and CS pins.

BLE is the only networking interface on 96b_carbon, so if
CONFIG_NETWORKING is set, automatically use 6lowpan/BLE link
layer. This will allow to make networking apps work "out of the
box" on 96b_carbon, similar to e.g. qemu_x86 (which automatically
uses SLIP) or frdm_k64f (which automatically uses Ethernet).
This also enables NET_L2_BT_ZEP1656, because most 6LoWPAN/BLE samples
in Zephyr currently use that option, and it is required to achieve
working 6LoWPAN/BLE with Linux kernels currently widely accessible
to the end users. E.g. the latest Ubuntu LTS release, 16.04, ships
with 4.4 kernel, and can be upgraded with a special effort to HWE
kernel which is currently at 4.10. NET_L2_BT_ZEP1656 is needed for
both these kernels.

Stop using CONFIG_I2C_x_DEFAULT_CFG to get the initial value. Since we
only support master mode we always default to it for initial config and
we get the bitrate from the device tree.

Add cross-referenced information on the 96b_carbon and
96b_carbon_nrf51 pages which disambiguates between the two "boards".
Also describe how to flash 96b_carbon_nrf51 with
samples/bluetooth/hci_spi and 96b_carbon with samples/bluetooth/ipsp
to support a Bluetooth HCI stack on 96Boards Carbon (the physical
board).
While we're here, make the documentation page for 96b_carbon match the
format in doc/templates/board.tmpl.

On 96Boards Carbon, Bluetooth is provided by a secondary nRF51 chip
connected to SPI_1, so enable this peripheral and its driver when BT
is selected.
Similarly, provide BT_SPI_* configs to integrate with the BT HCI SPI
driver. The files these config values apply to only get built when
CONFIG_BT=y, but this configuration can't be handled in the "if BT"
section in 96b_carbon's Kconfig.defconfig. This is because BT_SPI is
a choice value, and thus doesn't support a default setting.

Per ZEP-1958, Phase 2 of adding CC3220sf LaunchXL support,
was to "deprecate the CC3200 launchxl support in Zephyr
(redundant to the CC3220)."
Effectively, the CC3220 SOC replaces the CC3200.
This patch removes the following:
* the imported CC3200 SDK
* CC3200 SOC, board, DTS files.
* adjusts other files where cc3200 was mentioned.
Also, it fixes explicit references to CC3200 in generic
CC32xx driver files.

The SimpleLink host driver comes with its own definition of
__errno, which conflicts with Zephyr's definition, but has
a mechanism to enable use of the porting OS's __errno variable.
This patch enables SimpleLink to use Zephyr's __errno
via the DPL porting layer.

If the ftm driver is enabled, use an instance routed to the Arduino
header and configure the pinmux accordingly. Unlike the hexiwear_k64,
the pins routed to the RGB led cannot be muxed as ftm channels.

The API name space for Bluetooth is bt_* and BT_* so it makes sense to
align the Kconfig name space with this. The additional benefit is that
this also makes the names shorter. It is also in line with what Linux
uses for Bluetooth Kconfig entries.
Some Bluetooth-related Networking Kconfig defines are renamed as well
in order to be consistent, such as NET_L2_BLUETOOTH.

ReST defines interpreted text roles where text enclosed by single quotes
can be "intrepreted", for example :ref:`some name` becomes a link to
a label anywhere in the doc set named "some name", :c:func:`funcname()`
becomes a link to the API documentation for "funcname", and
:option:`CONFIG_NAME` becomes a link to, in our case, the documentation
for the generated Kconfig option.
This patch fixes uses of `some name` (without a role) by either adding
an explicit role, or changing to ``some name``, which indicates inline
code block formatting (most likely what was intended).
This is a precursor to changing the default behavior of interpreted
text to treat `some name` as :any:`some name` (as configured in
doc/conf.py), which would attempt to create a link to any available
definition of "some name".
We may not change this default role behavior, but it becomes an option
after the fixes in this patch. In any case, this patch fixes incorrect
uses of single-quoted text (possibly introduced because GitHub's
markdown language uses single-quoted text for inline code formatting).

This change fixes the prescaler values in the defconfig. The prescaler
values shown in the technical reference manual (STM32F407xx, p.19)
differ from those in the defconfig which results in wrong timer delays.
This patch corrects those values according to the manual. I tested it by
toggling a GPIO pin with different timer frequencies and run the
sanitycheck.

The previously used default value of 4 for the PPL_Q_DIVISOR results
in a frequency of 84MHz which is outside the acceptable range
of 47.88MHz to 48.12MHz.
The new value of 7 results in exactly 48MHz.

Now that we generate BLUETOOTH_UART_ON_DEV_NAME, UART_PIPE_ON_DEV_NAME,
and BLUETOOTH_MONITOR_ON_DEV_NAME Kconfig defines for dts enabled
platforms add those into the appropriate dts files and remove from the
various board/Kconfig.defconfig files.

Adds the pyocd target name for the frdm_kw41z board, but does not change
the default flash/debug scripts from jlink to pyocd. pyocd has not yet
tagged a release with kw41z support, so to use it one must build pyocd
from source based on the current master branch (f21d43d).

Update the MCUX I2C driver and related platforms to get their I2C
information from the device tree. We also updated a few of the sensor
drivers found on the FRDM & Hexiwear boards to get their I2C bus name
from the device tree instead of directly from Kconfig.

Sidebar navigation for supported boards is wonky: opens to show
all boards (making for lots of scrolling to see the sidebar) and
sidebar items aren't always clickable (as explained in the JIRA
issue).
Fix is to not use multiple toctree directives in boards.rst and
create intermediate architecture-specific supported board docs.

Board port was done before the yaml transition, so was missing a
cc2650_sensortag.yaml. As such when we build all the test we get a few
build errors that we also fixed up.

Allow to use an external debug adapter such as J-Link or ULINK
connected to a 20-pin JTAG header to flash the image. SWD is
the actual protocol used by the debug interface.

A couple of docs were created in previous PRs with board support
information common to a few boards. Move these to a new section
for "Board Support Tools". (I debated about hiding them completely
but decided it would still be useful to have these tool docs appear
in the table of contents, just not embedded with the supported boards
docs.)
Moved these board tools docs over to the doc/ folder and out of
boards/ and removed these pages from the navigation index.

Removed CONFIG_HAS_DTS from the stm32f4_disco_defconfig &
stm32l496g_disco_defconfig files as its automatically selected for all
ARM SoCs at this point.

We now get the baud rate for the serial port from the device tree so we
don't need to be setting it in the defconfig.
The baud rate changed from 38400 to 115200 when we introduced the device
tree for MPS2. The default baud rate was based on matching mbed, but we
use 115200 to match the standard default we have for most boards now.

This patch adds initial MPU support to NXP K6x family.
The boot configuration prevents the following security issues:
* Prevent to read at an address that is reserved in the memory map.
* Prevent to write into the boot Flash/ROM.
* Prevent from running code located in SRAM.
This driver has been tested on FRDM-K64F.

Adds a new debug support script using pyOCD and configures most NXP
boards so they can use it. frdm_kw41z is the one exception because pyOCD
doesn't yet support kw41z. Tested with pyOCD v0.8.0 and the latest
DAPLink firmware for each board.
Introduces two new environment variables, PYOCD_FLASHTOOL and
PYOCD_GDBSERVER, that allow you to set custom paths to the pyOCD tools.

Adds a new debug support script using Segger JLink and configures all
NXP boards so they can use it. Tested with Segger JLink GDB server
V6.14b and OpenSDA v2.1 firmware.

This adds support for the nRF51 chip on the board.
If you'd like to run Zephyr on the STM32F4 chip on Carbon, you need to
use the 96b_carbon board instead.
The current SPI Bluetooth protocol only uses 5 wires, so we use the
remaining pin as UART TX.

The SimpleLink SDK actually encapsulates a family of devices,
of which cc32xx is just one device. Other devices can fit
under this SDK directory structure.
This expansion will also allow the import of the WiFi
host driver and its driver porting layer in the future,
inserted at the correct levels in the SimpleLink SDK
directory heirarchy.
Follow the URL (ending in "#directory-structure") referenced in
ext/hal/ti/simplelink/README which explains the SDK structure,
and where devices fit in.

This commit sticks to clock configurations previously defined.
Two changes to notice:

with support for the CC3220SF SoC, which is an update for
the CC3200 SoC.

The current PLL settings for the Carbon have two problems.
1. The VCO frequency (672MHz) is out of spec.
2. The 48MHz clock is being driven at 84MHz which breaks USB,
breaks SDIO and also risks biasing the RNG.
Fix this by bringing the VCO down to 336MHz (which also fixes
the 48MHz clock) and update the other dividers accordingly.

Introduce SoC specific config options similar to what exists on NRF51,
this is mostly to help distinguish between SRAM & Flash sizes on
different variants.

renamed the STM32F10{3,7} SoC dtsi to try and make it clear that the 'X'
is a place holder. Fixedup the top level compatiables in the boards to

By default a factory new SAM E70 chip will boot SAM-BA boot loader located in
the ROM, not the flashed image. This is determined by the value of GPNVM1
(General-Purpose NVM bit 1). Updated flash procedure will ensure that GPNVM1
is set to 1 changing the default behavior to boot from Flash.

The schematics of the BBC micro:bit are hard to find, and its official
web-site doesn't document the mapping of the edge connector pins
numbers the nRF51 GPIO pin numbers. Provide helpful defines for this
in the board.h file.

Previously, cc3200_launchxl board was not able to show the
Zephyr Boot Banner, as that required early initialization
of the UART driver, which was done POST_KERNEL.
This patch moves the pinmux and UART driver initialization
to PRE_KERNEL_1, allowing early printk, and the Boot Banner
to show.

The LEDs on BBC micro:bit boards are red and not green. Since
mentioning the color doesn't really provide any value to the GPIO pin

Let 'make flash' invoke the dfuutil.sh support script, and
export the relevant DFUUTIL_* environment variables, for all
3 cores of the Arduino 101 board: x86, ARC and BLE.
This is backward compatible with the current usage of OpenOCD
over JTAG, since this is only enabled when the environment
variable ZEPHYR_FLASH_OVER_DFU is set to y.

Provide BUT button and LED1, LED2 leds defines in order to get
basic samples "blinky" and "button" available on olimexino_stm32.
Defines have been named in order to match with board printing.
Aliases are provided to get compatibility with zephyr sample code.

This patch automates flashing process for arduino_due board. Just make flash will able
to flash binary file on the board.
Bossa tool(http://www.shumatech.com/web/products/bossa) manual flashing process is
automated through shell script and currently this binary is only available for
x86_64 architecture.

Add basic PHY management sufficient to detect link up, link down and
auto negotiated link speed / duplex. The PHY driver is implemented as
a state machine that executed in the system work queue. The
implementation is non blocking, using the MII interrupt to capture the
completion of read and write events.
This PHY management should be fairly generic. In the future, it may be
beneficial to pull this code out as a standalone PHY driver for use
with other ethernet drivers.

This patch adds DTS support for the Hexiwear K64 platform. This
includes enabling the DTS config option and adding conditionals around
the options to be replaced.
In addition, a DTS file is provided that customizes the Kinetis
platform to match the hexiwear board. A fixup file is provided to map
the generated information to the current client driver usage. This
file is temporary.

This patch adds DTS support for the FRDM_K64F board. The defconfig
enables the DTS usage and the FRDM K64F specific DTS file provides the
differences from the base Kinetis DTS definitions.
A fixup file is provided to map the generated configuration information
to the driver consumers. The fixup file will be removed once the
drivers are modified to handle the newly generated information.

This patch adds DTS support and related files for the NXP Kinetis
platform. The DTS files contain the base definitions for the hardware
nodes on Kinetis platforms. The YAML files provide the definitions of
the contents of the DTS nodes.
The Kconfig changes were put in place to allow for the conversion of
existing drivers. Once those drivers are modified, the Kconfig options
that are replaced by the DTS information will be removed.

Working Ethernet, and actually even successfully booting with Ethernet
enabled (and Ethernet is enabled by default on enabling networking)
so far requires a network cable attached.

Adds initial support and documentation for the frdm_kw41z board.
- Configures the kw41 to use the 32 MHz external oscillator on the board
to generate a 40 MHz system clock. The clock settings match the MCUX
SDK hello_world example project.
- Provides pinmux settings for the uart, i2c, LEDs, and switches
- Enables pinmux, gpio, uart, and i2c driver instances
- Configures the fxos8700 accelerometer/magnetometer driver

ARM's Cortex-M Prototyping System (MPS2) is a board with an FPGA that
can be programmed with different 'SoCs'. To use these in Zephyr we need
a set of board files for each variant.
This adds a board for a variant which implements a Cortex-M3 CPU; the
naming of this matches that used for the Zephyr SoC (which is itself
based on ARM's documentation nomenclature).

The headings on some .rst files were not following the expected

Replace the existing Apache 2.0 boilerplate header with an SPDX tag
throughout the zephyr code tree. This patch was generated via a
script run over the master branch.
Also updated doc/porting/application.rst that had a dependency on
line numbers in a literal include.
Manually updated subsys/logging/sys_log.c that had a malformed
header in the original file. Also cleanup several cases that already
had a SPDX tag and we either got a duplicate or missed updating.

The k64 gpio driver quietly initializes the pinmux to force the pin to
be a gpio, regardless of the setting defined by the board's pinmux
table, or even if the pin was not in the pinmux table.
This behavior caused the accelerometer interrupt pin to be incorrectly
defined in the frdm_k64f and hexiwear_k64 pinmux tables.

Moves the uart console pins from the k64 soc init to the frdm_k64f and
hexiwear_k64 board pinmux tables. Not having these pins in the board
pinmux tables led one to believe that no pins in PORTB were being used
on the hexiwear_k64 board, and thus the port was incorrectly disabled by
default.
Also fixes PORTB to be enabled by default if the uart console is used.

Previously, CC3200 drivers had two options to use the peripheral
driver library APIs:
1) Build driverlib SDK files in Zephyr, in ext/hal/ti/cc3200/*
2) Link directly with the driverlib.a, from an externally installed
TI CC3200 SDK.
A new option is added to replace option 2), and is now the default:
3) Use the driverlib functions already provided in ROM.
This enables a savings in code size, which will depend on the
types of device drivers configured and the number of SDK
APIs actually used.
A rom_report build of the shell sample application showed
a savings of about 2kb in code space using this new config option.

Merges the ksdk pinmux dev driver into the regular ksdk pinmux driver,
which now exposes the public pinmux API. Removes the private ksdk pinmux
API and converts the frdm_k64f and hexiwear_k64 boards to use the public
pinmux API.

Enable PORTD on the frdm_k64f only if SPI_0 is enabled. Otherwise, there
are no pins in the pinmux table for this port and it should be left
disabled.

This will replace the current goal of 'make qemu' with 'make run' and
moves Qemu handling into its own file and into the boards instead of
being architecture specific.
We should be able to add new boards that support some other type of
emulation (by adding scripts/Makefile.<emu type>) and allow the board to
define their own options for the use type of emulation.
'make qemu' will still work, however it will be deprecated, starting
with this commit it is recommended to use 'make run'.

Use the existing debugserver target also for Qemu debugging. Qemu
should be maintained as one of many emulation/simulations platforms and
emulation should be abstracted in the Makefiles and not tied to Qemu.
qemugdb will still work, it is however being deprecated.

The basic button sample expects SW0_GPIO_NAME and SW0_GPIO_PIN macros to
be defined by board.h. The frdm_64f doesn't have a physical switch with
this name, so create an alias to SW3 to make the sample work.

The basic blinky sample expects LED0_GPIO_PORT and LED0_GPIO_PIN macros
to be defined by board.h. The frdm_k64f and hexiwear_k64 boards don't
have a physical LED with this name, so create an alias to the green LED
to make the sample work.

Previously, running UART applications in Zephyr from sFlash would
not show consistent character output.
The PRCM clock enable for UART was missing the sleep mode while
enabling the UART clock.
This has been fixed, and verified with philosophers (polled output)
and shell (interrupt driven) zephyr examples running from sFlash.

For the basic samples to work, button and LED definitions are required
in board.h. These map the buttons and LEDs present on the board to
the corresponding GPIOs they are wired into.
In this particular case the LEDs are actually arranged in a 3x9 matrix,
with the GPIOs wired to the rows and columns of said matrix. An upcoming
patch will provide utility functions to access the matrix.

Leverages the configuration generated by the TI recommended PinMux
utility to enable pins for the 4 GPIO ports on the CC32xx LaunchXL
board, pre-configuring GPIOs for the onboard:
- 3 LEDs, and
- Two user push buttons (SW2, SW3).
The pinmux configuration is used in lieu of a Zephyr
pinmux driver, and is called during board initialization.

In preparation for the new Nordic MDK and nRF52840 IC support this patch
adds the specific nRF52832 IC model in the pca10040 board default
config, so that future boards with different ICs from the same nRF52
series are supported correctly.

Some pins were not brought forward from the existing pin init in
drivers/pinmux/k64/pinmux_board_frdm_64f.c because they do not appear to
be used anywhere and it increases power consumption to enable them. For
example, 6 pins were enabled as analog inputs, but there is not yet an
ADC driver for the k64. The pins that were not brought forward are:
* PTA 0-2
* PTB 2,3,9-11,23
* PTC 2-4,10,11

There was a misalignment between Zephyr UART device numbering and
SoC UART IP. Device "UART_1" was mapped to IP USART_2, which could
be confusing for user.
This commit allows to align "UART_1" to IP USART_1.
Change is propagated to all STM32F103RB/STM32F401RE based boards and
respective pinmux drivers

Add board support for ARM V2M Beetle platform.
ARM V2M Beetle board is build around the ARM Beetle Cortex-M3
based processor.
The support has been tested in nanokernel mode with the bringup
application that will be pushed with a future patch.

PRIMARY, SECONDARY, NANOKERNEL, MICROKERNEL init levels are now
deprecated.
New init levels introduced: PRE_KERNEL_1, PRE_KERNEL_2, POST_KERNEL
to replace them.
Most existing code has instances of PRIMARY replaced with PRE_KERNEL_1,
SECONDARY with POST_KERNEL as SECONDARY has had a longstanding bug
where the documentation specified SECONDARY ran before the kernel started
up, but actually ran afterwards.

The Quark SE C1000 BLE Core is a nRF51822-QFAA, with 16kB of RAM and
256kB of flash. The configuration is otherwise similar to the Arduino
101 BLE, except that the UART RTS pin is the same as that used by
nrf51_pca10028.

Change the default Bluetooth UART device name to the UART connected to
the arduino header. This allows using the frdm_k64f with a frdm_kw40z
shield board.

Leverages the pinmux.c file generated by the TI PinMux utility
to enable UART pins. The pinmux configuration is used in lieu of a Zephyr
pinmux driver, and is called during board initialization.
UARTA0 is currently supported.

Added Kconfig and makefiles to be able to build a Zephyr application
on Linux/gcc, and load via OpenOCD.
Validated by running the hello world, and philosophers microkernel
samples, and stepping through the code in gdb.

The k64 SoC has multiple instances of many peripherals, but which
instances can actually be used depends upon the board design and pinmux
configuration.
Move all instance-specific default driver configurations from the SoC to
the boards (frdm_k64f and hexiwear_k64). Default driver selection
remains in the SoC (e.g., enable the KSDK I2C driver when I2C is
enabled).
This paves the way to support different driver defaults for the
frdm_k64f and hexiwear_k64 boards, but it does not yet change any of the
default values; it only changes where the default values get set.

STM32Cube uses SoC defines made to reflect HW heterogeneity that
should be taken into account by SW.
Aim of this commit is to adapt values used by Zephyr to the same
diversity. This will help create new SoC values only when justified
by a real hardware difference that should be taken into account
by software.
For instance, for SoC stm32f401re following define is used:
*STM32F401xE
Which means:
*Same SW could be used on STM32F401RE and STM32F401CE:
same CONFIG_SOC could be used
*Different SW should be used on STMF401RE and STM32F401RC:
different CONFIG_SOC should be used
This change focuses on stm32f4xx series.

Introduce an architecture sorting of boards. This is to allow for
easier maintenance going forward as the number of boards grows. It
will be easier for any scripts to know the board/arch mapping without
having to maintain an explicit list of what boards are associated with
which arch. We can also do things like have architecture maintainers
cover reviews and branches for arch/${ARCH} and boards/${ARCH} going
forward.
